The Oregon Trail
September 2, 2011
At 10 a.m. today, Hornet photographer Jesse Charlton and I will embark on a journey to Corvallis, Oregon. Our mission: to go where no State Hornet reporter has gone before and cover the hell out of Saturday’s season opening football game against the Oregon State Beavers.
Like many Oregon-bound treks throughout history, our party has already endured its share of casualties. We tragically lost two eager and talented photographers before we were even able to hit the trail. It would have been easy to call it quits, but we knew what we had to do – go on a road trip without them and have an irresponsible amount of fun (in a completely responsible way, of course.)
Instead of a covered wagon, we’ll be traveling in a Ford Falcon – a similarly antiquated yet charming mode of transportation. I’ve packed an extra axel and two spare wheels just in case.
The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday and I will be live blogging (link to be posted soon) from the press box beginning at 12:30 p.m. A recap will be posted shortly after the game’s end and photos will be posted soon after that.
(This is, of course, assuming that Jesse avoids Typhoid fever and I don’t die of dysentery.)
We hope you join us during our live coverage. We are very excited to be bringing you Sac State football directly from the source.
Wish us happy trails!
