Sac State leading 14-3 at halftime against Oregon State
September 3, 2011
Everything is going Sac State’s way so far in the season opener against the Oregon State Beavers, which they lead 14-3 at halftime.
An early interception by Hornet CB Osagie Odiase and a red zone stop in the 2nd quarter prevented the Hornets from falling behind early.
Jeff Fleming took it from there as he led the Hornets on two touchdown drives, both resulting in passed to Chase Deadder.
The Hornets caught breaks the entire first half, including two big pass interference calls on Oregon State that extended Hornet drives.
Jeff Fleming played a very strong 2nd quarter, going 9 for 15, for 121 yards, 2 TDs, no interceptions. His OSU counterpart, Ryan Katz has only completed 50 percent of his passes, going 11-21 for 87 yards, no TDs and one interception.
Sac State’s running game has struggled, as Hilliard has only 15 yards on 5 carries. Fleming leads the Hornets in rushing, netting 35 yards on 7 carries.
I expect Oregon State to remain calm and continue to run the ball, where they’ve been very effective.
True freshman Malcolm Agnew has 32 yards on seven carries for the Beavers, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
Oregon State will receive the second half kickoff.
