David Demola’s Weight Loss Wonderblog No. 1
October 28, 2009
It was during my second year at American River College that the idea of health was brought up in a psychology class.
This idea didn’t just relate to exercise or proper diet. The theory hit every part of who we are.
The professor referred to it as, “Biopsychosocial equilibrium.”
In short, it meant that – to be truly healthy – your mind, body and social life have to be taken care of.
And that is the direction I am going to take with this weight loss blog.
Yes, the biological need for me to lose weight will be considered.
But it will be put on par with my social life.
It is my belief that expanding knowledge is just as important as taking vitamins.
This weight loss blog has no end-goal. There is no target weight that will make me feel satisfied.
Why?
This blog is about more than just dropping a pant-size. It’s about more than losing some pre-set number of pounds.
The purpose of this blog is to help me learn who I am, and who I could be if I tried.
From there, it’s my own drive that will make me become a healthier person.
And if anyone out there wants to join in, feel free. This blog is as much for you as it is for me.
