To be or not to be…in Hamlet
March 24, 2004
The Sacramento State Alumni Theatre Project is looking for students, alumni and community members who are interested in acting out a modern rendition of the classic play Hamlet.
The production will be directed by theater alum Ed Trafton. In addition to directing, Trafton has also edited and modernized the script.
“The director is looking for a very streamline, modern and sexy Hamlet,” said producer and theater alum Gregg Kilski.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on March 30 in the university theatre. The auditions are non-traditional — students, alumni and community members are welcome.
Actors do not need to come with a prepared monologue and no prior acting experience is necessary. Auditions will consist of a reading from the script and call-backs will be made the following day if necessary. The part of Hamlet has already been cast. All other parts are still open.
Hamlet is scheduled to open July 9, and will run through Aug. 8 in the Playwrights’ Theatre, Shasta Hall. For more information call (916)278-3330.
