A woman in her parked car was trapped inside after another car lost control and caused a collision with six other cars inside of parking structure II this morning around 10 a.m.

The Sacramento Fire Department responded and eight firefighters assisted in removing the woman, who appeared to be a college-aged student, from her car on a stretcher. It was not clear if the woman was seriously injured. She was taken to a local hospital by the fire department.

Campus police chief Mark Iwasa said, “It seemed like her legs were partially pinned.”

The accident occurred on the ramp between the 2nd and 3rd floors. The driver of the car which initiated the crash was a woman who also appeared to be a college-aged student. She declined to give her name. She was driving toward the second floor when she lost control of her car.

The car turned right, struck two cars and bounced off them to the left side of the ramp hitting other cars with enough force to cause a chain reaction, including the one resulting in the trapped woman.

The driver was not hurt and was given a breathalyzer test by University police.

Police blocked off the entrance to the parking structure and escorted the owners of the damaged parked cars to assess the damage. Glass from multiple cars was swept up before tow trucks could start taking cars away.

UPDATE: University Police confirm on their Facebook page the number of cars involved in the accident this morning was eight and four cars were towed away. The woman who was trapped was described as having been injured. No details about her injuries were given.
