A special episode of the State Hornet Spotlight podcast features a roundtable discussion with podcast editor Mack Ervin III, Editor-in-Chief Jordan Parker and features editor Magaly Muñoz where they talk about their opinions concerning the upcoming recall election.

The trio debates the moments that jump-started the recall, whether the candidates are viable governors for the world’s fifth largest economy, and whether they think incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom will retain his position come Tuesday night.

Mack Ervin III is the podcast editor for The State Hornet. He is a senior who joined back in fall 2019 and has previously served as football beat writer and multimedia reporter. A double major in journalism and communications, he is also an avid sports, racing and video game enthusiast.

Jordan Parker, editor in chief

Jordan Parker is the editor-in-chief of The State Hornet. He took the helm of one of the largest news organizations in the Sacramento region in May 2021 and leads the newsroom staff as well as all editorial content published on the website and its affiliated social media channels.

Magaly Muñoz, managing editor

Magaly Muñoz joined The State Hornet as an opinion writer in fall 2019 and went on to run the opinion section as editor for the 2020-2021 school year. Magaly is the fall 2021 managing editor and will graduate with her bachelors degree in journalism in spring 2022. After graduation, she hopes to delve into magazine writing or publishing.
