Court date set for Sac State student accused of embezzlement
Funds from university’s Dreamer Resource Center were deposited into personal bank account
The Sac State Police Department conducted an investigation into the embezzlement that occurred. The embezzlement was first noticed in the crime logs available at the campus police department’s front desk.

The Sacramento County District Attorney set an April 24 court date for the Sacramento State student accused of embezzling funds intended for the university’s Dreamer Resource Center emergency fund.
Sac State’s bursar’s office was notified by a member of the Wells Fargo team that several checks made out to Sac State totaling $5,850.00 were deposited into a student employee’s personal bank account.
Once Sac State’s bursar’s office was notified, the assistant bursar and university cashier notified the Sacramento State Police Department about the possibility of embezzlement and an investigation was conducted.

The information was obtained via a California Public Records Act request filed by The State Hornet.
Director of News and Communication Brian Blomster identified the student employee via email as Rossmeri Ramirez. Ramirez is currently not attending Sac State.
“We review our procedures and practices for handling University resources to safeguard them,” Blomster said. “Unfortunately, someone chose to betray the University’s trust. Ultimately, though, because of safeguards in place, she was caught.”
Ramirez has not responded to requests for comment. Wells Fargo’s media spokesperson has not yet responded to requests for an update.
