Fun events around Sacramento for April
Are you looking for fun things to do around Sacramento in April? The State Hornet has compiled some fun events to attend every week until May. Check out our calendar for some of the best art festivals, concerts, games and other events this April.
The Vagina Monologues
Check out the play based on Eve Ensler’s monologues including real women exploring intimacy, vulnerability and self-discovery. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the University Union ballroom and tickets start at $5 for students with a valid One Card.
Sac Republic FC Games
Come see Sacramento’s only professional soccer team! The team has three home games in April at Bonney Field at Cal Expo, and tickets start at $16. The Republic will be taking on Seattle Sounders FC 2, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
Roy Wood$ concert

Hip-hop artist Roy Wood$ is bringing his “Say Less” tour to Sacramento. The concert will be at Harlow’s Restaurant and Nightclub. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. Presale tickets are being sold for $25 and will be sold for $30 on the day of the event with a required one drink minimum.
Festival of the Arts

If you’re fan of the arts, this event is for you. The Festival of the Arts is a six-day event including music, Shakespearean plays, ceramic art and much more. This is a free event and will be held at Sac State and in the surrounding areas.
Final Kings game of season vs Houston Rockets
The Sacramento Kings will be playing their final game of the 2017–18 season. The Kings will be facing the best team in the NBA — the Houston Rockets — at home. The game is at 7 p.m. at the Golden 1 Center and tickets start at $20.
U-Create! Street Fair
Part of the Festival of the Arts, the U-Create! Street Fair features live music, dance performances, student readings and other showcases of faculty and student work. This free event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on 7th Street, between S Street and Rice Alley in downtown Sacramento.
V101 Freestyle Throwback Jam
Angel Guerrero – The State Hornet
The most well-known artists in freestyle and Old School music will be performing at the V101 Freestyle Throwback Jam. Artists include Stevie B, Lisa Lisa, Taylor Dayne, Expose and many more! The concert will be held at the Golden 1 Center and tickets start at $30. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Devin the Dude concert

Rapper Devin the Dude is bringing the “D-Tour” to Sacramento! He is well known for collaborating with artists like Snoop Dogg, Young Jeezy, and Berner. He will be performing at Holy Diver. The show begins at 7 p.m. and tickets start at $20.
Sac Comic-Con

The famous comic book convention which is prominently held in San Diego is back in Sacramento! Guests include comic book artists Chris Claremont (“X-Men”), Bob Layton (“Iron Man”) and Pat Broderick (“Batman Year 3”). The event is being held at the Sacramento Convention Center and tickets start at $10.
SOB X RBE concert
SOB X RBE “Strictly Only Brothers, Real Boi Entertainment,” a rap group from Vallejo, will be performing at Ace of Spades. The collective has released hit songs like “Anti” and “Lane Changing,” and the group was recently featured on the Black Panther album with the song “Paramedic.” The concert is at 7 p.m., and tickets are sold out — but still available on resale websites like Stubhub starting around $70.
Sac State 5K Fun Run
Shaun Holkko – The State Hornet
The Sac State 5K Fun Run is back for the tenth annual event. The run is open to people of any physical and ability level, and goes from 6-8 p.m. Registration will be available for $26 until the 15th, when prices start going up. You can still sign up for $32 on the day of the event.
Sacramento Beer and Chili Festival

Do you love comedy? If so, we have the perfect event for you. The Comedy Get Down is back in Sacramento. Comedians such as George Lopez, Cedric ‘The Entertainer,’ D.L. Hughley and Eddie Griffin will all be performing at the Golden 1 Center. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $30.
Nick Swardson comedy show

Comedian and actor Nick Swardson will be bringing his “Too Many Smells” tour to Sacramento. He is widely known for starring in several Adam Sandler movies. He will be performing at the Crest Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $39.50 and can be purchased online.
