On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Sacramento State held an all-day “Grad Fest,” a one-stop shop for all graduates to buy their commencement day materials.

Many of the deals and specials that were offered at the University Union on this day were only offered to the students who attended this event.

“The most beneficial thing about Grad Fest was just having access to everything in one spot,” said Brie Davis, a soon-to-be-graduate.

The Grad Fest featured graduate pack sales, cap and gown sales, a photo shoot for the jumbotron on the day of the ceremony, commencement announcements and more. The bookstore also had merchandise and graduation fest sales going on.

A leading class ring and commencement announcement retailer, Balfour, was present and offered some sales on class rings that were only available to the students who came by on this day. Balfour Regional Sales Manager Lori Mitchell, who is also a Sac State alumna, said Balfour has been coming to Sac State’s Grad Fest for 16 years now.

“For class rings, anytime I’m here, I have a special discount, which you can only get here, you can’t get it online,” Mitchell said.

Jennifer Barber, assistant vice president of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving said they will be holding a cap decorating party on Dec. 2. She said this decorating party is free for anyone who purchased their grad pack.

“All students are welcome to come and decorate their caps,” Barber said. “There will be pizza and soda and fun before finals.”
