Burnt popcorn forces people out of Mendocino Hall

A fire alarm triggered at noon by burnt popcorn on the second floor of Mendocino Hall at Sacramento State caused occupants in the entire building to go outside.

Director of Risk Management Kirtland Stout said someone in the humanities and religion department probably left the popcorn cooking for too long, resulting in the alarm to sound off.

Communication Studies Department Chair Steven Buss placed cautionary tape on the entrance of Mendocino facing the Riverfront Center.

Sacramento City Fire Department showed up about a half hour later as required to for every fire alarm, whether it is a real threat or not.
