Redshirt freshman third baseman Alexis Martinez was awarded the Northwestern Mutual Student-Athlete of the week on Tuesday for her performance against the University of Pacific on April 8 and Idaho State University on April 11-12.

In the four games, Martinez hit .385 with two home runs, 8 RBIs and helped the team to a .500 record. Against Pacific, she went 1-for-3 as she collected two RBIs in the 9-5 win against the Tigers.

The two home runs that came in the final two games against the Bengals were Martinez’s first two of the season and she now leads the team in that category.
