A disabled van on the center island near the front entrance of Sacramento State on J St. and Carlson Drive blocked traffic at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Sgt. Brian Burger, the Sac State officer on site, received an unconfirmed report that two white males fled the scene after the accident.

The primary cause of how the incident occurred was still unknown.

“This is city police jurisdiction, we’re holding (the) fort until they get here,” Burger said. “We’re just the babysitters.”

The white and tan Dodge Ram 250 Coachmen was turned around facing oncoming traffic on J St. with a deflated right front side tire, blocking the right hand turn lane.

It was confirmed by Burger the vehicle was not reported stolen, but is registered to a church in Arizona. Burger was unable to specify which church it belonged to.  

More information will be released after the Sacramento City Police Department investigates the scene.
