Se’Nyce Parrish, senior guard for Sacramento State’s women’s basketball team, sustained a knee injury in the first half of the Hornets’ 93-89 victory over San Diego State Sunday – she will be out indefinitely.

Parrish was running near the first row of the stands on the far sideline of the court when she fell to the ground, clutching her knee. Parrish was helped off the court by medical staff and teammates with 7:36 remaining in the period.

At Tuesday’s practice, head coach Bunky Harkleroad said the team was still in the process of determining the severity of the injury.

“We really don’t know much yet and we are just hoping for the best,” Harkleroad said.

While Harkleroad was not able to provide information regarding Parrish’s injury, the first-year coach expressed thoughts on his initial reaction to seeing one of the team’s key players go down.

“It’s just disappointing for [Parrish] as an individual and for us as a team,” Harkleroad said. “She is a valuable player for us and we need her on the court.”

As a result, Harkleroad will be experimenting with different rotations to find a replacement for Parrish if she misses significant time.

“Somebody is going to have to step up and it may mean some people who haven’t been playing as much, will get an opportunity,” Harkleroad said. “This is a big week in practice for us to figure out how bad her injury is and who will step up.”

Sac State will be on the road this weekend when it faces Oregon State Friday, followed by a matchup with Oregon Sunday.
