Two areas of Sacramento State’s campus were vandalized with spray paint this week.

Someone spray painted, “Free Julian,” “Lower fees” and “Less cuts,” on the northwest wall of Mendocino Hall. The graffiti is clearly visible from the quad at the Riverfront Center.

The second area is the wall underneath the Guy West Footbridge on State University Drive East. It also reads, “Free Julian,” and it is accompanied by an 11-digit number. A Google search suggests it might be an IP address.

Update: There is also graffiti on the Riverfront Center.

The “Free Julian” signs are in reference to Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks who was arrested by authorities on Tuesday in London over a Swedish arrest warrant having to do with sexual molestation.

Sac State Police officials were not available for comment. It is unknown at this time when the vandalism occurred. The vandalism under the Guy West Footbridge has been there since Thursday.

This story will be updated when more information is available.
