Sac State men’s soccer loses 4-1 to Duke

The Sacramento State men’s soccer team lost 4-1 to No. 11 Duke University today during the final day of the Duke Nike Classic held at Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C.
The Hornets lost their first game of the tournament to North Carolina State in double-overtime. Sac State falls to 0-2-0 on the season after coming up winless in at the Duke Nike Classic.
The Blue Devils played like a top-15 team by scoring three times in 10 minutes during the game. In the span, Ryan Finley scored two of the three goals, while Cole Grossman scored his goal in the 16th minute.
Being down 3-0 at halftime, the Hornets came out of the half and midfielder Ernesto Carranza gave Sac State its only goal of the match.
Finley finished out the second half by earning a hat trick for his third goal. Even though the Hornets came out winless, both Carranza and midfielder Fernando Cabadas made the Duke Nike Classic all-tournament team.
Sac State will look to snap its two-game losing streak on Friday, as the team hosts rival UC Davis at 5 p.m.
