The State Hornet wins Online Pacemaker Award
November 4, 2009
The State Hornet brought home two awards from the Associated Collegiate Press’ Fall 2009 conference in Austin, Texas this weekend.
The Pacemaker award, given on the merit of the entire website’s design, ease of navigation, writing and editing, graphics and interactivity; and the Best of Show award, reflecting the Hornet’s entry in the “Multimedia Package” category of ACP’s Best of Show competition.
Twenty college news websites were finalists in the four-year non-daily newspaper category, and ten won the Pacemaker award Saturday. This is the second year in a row that the Hornet has won the Pacemaker award.
According to the ACP website, the Best of Show award is given based on overall excellence of submissions by the conference’s attendees.
The State Hornet won the award Sunday based on the special web page coverage of the American River Courtyard homicide.
