Sac State student wins pageant crown
September 2, 2008
Sacramento State student Jackie Geist won the Miss California title now leading her to compete for the Miss America crown.
One step away from her dream, Geist will represent the state as the California delegate in the national pageant in January.
Geist, junior business finance major, has multiple pageant titles under her belt including Miss Teen Vacaville and Miss Teen Vaca Valley.
An accomplished and lifelong dancer, she performed a 100-year-old piece, “The Swan” from “Carnival of the Animals,” at the Miss California pageant.
Scholarships are the main reasons for Geist participation in pageants. That’s the reason she’s at Sac State. She believes the contests promote women to have higher goals, values and better educations. Her “platform” issue, or important worldly concern for the competition, is financial planning and saving for the future.
“The words style, success, service and scholarship sit atop the four points of the crown,” Geist said. “They’re the best words to sum up the pageant.”
