The Sacramento State baseball team lost a non-conference game to the San Francisco Dons Tuesday 9-8 at Benedetti Diamond. Don shortstop Tavo Hall singled home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break the 8-8 tie.

After hitting a triple in the top of the ninth inning, Hornet junior Gabe Jacobo stood on third base with one out as the potential tying run. Sophomore Tim Wheeler struck out swinging and senior Wes Oberlin grounded out to Hall for the last out of the game.

The loss dropped Sac State’s record to 19-19 and the Dons improved to 23-17 while sweeping the season-series from the Hornets, 2-0.

Jacobo was 4-for-5 on the day with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Senior Brian Boyd went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Hornets.

The Hornets will host New Mexico State in a four-game WAC series this weekend starting at 1 p.m. Friday at Hornet Field.
