Five of six Sac State boats come out victorious

The varsity eight (7:01.8), second varsity eight (7:04.7), novice eight (7:39.7), varsity four A (7:56.6) and varsity four B (8:04.2) won their races in the Sacramento State Rowing Invitational on Saturday at Lake Natoma.

The Novice four (8:47.6) finished in third place.

McFarlane earns honor at NCAA Championships

Senior Raphael McFarlane earned an All-American honor in the long jump with a mark of 24-09.75 at the NCAA D-I Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. He placed 13th overall.

Senior Daniel Imlach also competed in the championships in the pole vault event, where he cleared 17-00.72 and placed in a five-way tie for 10th place.

Three-day series reduced to two

The three-game baseball series between the Sacramento State Hornets and Gonzaga Bulldogs will be reduced to three games over two days. Friday’s games will be at 2 p.m. and Saturday will feature of double-header beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Men’s golf places 19th in Fresno

The Hornets competed in the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic where the team took 19th place out of 20 teams with a score of 891 on March 11. San Diego State finished on top shooting 841.

Jeremy Harris shot a 216, Cody Miller shot a 222, Grant Norton shot a 228, Scott DeBorba shot a 229 and Kyle Candlish sot a 232.

Women’s golf places 14th at UNLV

Sac State competed in the UNLV Spring Rebel Invitational on March 12 and placed 14th out of 18 teams with a 902. BYU and Washington State tied for first place with a score of 859. Washington State won on a tiebreaker.

Samantha Safford topped the Hornets with a 222. Brooke Green and Heather LeMaster shot a 227, Kim Coppin shot a 239 and Emily Longcrier shot a 239.

Gymnastics post season-high road score

The Hornets raised their Regional Qualifying Score when they traded in a road score of 191.450 with a 193.850 in the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational on Sunday at Oregon State.

No. 8 Oregon State (197.200) took first place, No. 19 Boise State (196.575) finished second and No. 14 Missouri (195.325) placed third.
