Summer camp representatives throughout Northern California came out to participate in Sacramento State’s Summer Camp Fair today.

The fair hosted a variety of camp representatives from Northern California within a 300 mile radius who were looking for students to work in their camps over the summer months. The various camps are looking for students to fill general staff positions.

Sarah Witcomb, a Sac State student who was helping students at the information desk, has participated in summer camp programs in the past and encourages students to participate.

“It’s a great experience meeting a lot of people, and you get paid to have fun. What can be greater than that?” Witcomb said.

Adam Stein from Walton’s Grizzly Lodge Summer Camp is looking for general camp counselors who will work with children from ages 7 to 14, and says the experience is well worth it.

“It’s a summer that they will come out of with a lot of experience, a lot of memories and they will meet a lot of great kids,” Stein said .

Stein especially urged male students to apply. He estimated that there is only one male applicant out of every eight applications.

Hoang Nguyen, a therapeutic recreation major, was one of the students at the fair who was looking for information from the different camps.

“Every camp seems great. I can only do a week out of the summer, so I’m looking for one that fits my schedule,” Nguyen said, who was able to find a camp that would accommodate his plans.

“I’m looking forward to working with kids with disabilities – that is what I want to do with my future,” Nguyen said.
