MOJO: Quad gets facelift
March 17, 2008
The main quad in front of Lassen Hall is getting a facelift.
Gerry Lopez, a Sacramento State groundskeeper, said the quad’s old sprinkler system was replaced. Pop-up sprinkler heads have been installed on the perimeter and rotor-type ones are in the middle of the plot.
Lopez said this area has been under construction for over a month.
Students may not be able make use of the quad, but some appreciate the efforts.
“It’s a good idea to make the school look nice,” said Camille Howell, senior biology major.
Lopez said it’ll be another two weeks of rototilling and removing dead material, and one day of planting some new trees and hydroseeding, Lopez said.
Hydroseeding is a mixture of a grass seed and paper mulch and is sprayed on dirt with a huge fire hose. It is the less expensive way to create a lawn versus rolling new, pre-grown sod.
