Fashionable and Functional?

Today I was shopping for a new purse and I became very discouraged after I went to four different stores and didn’t find what I was looking for. After spending countless hours looking for my keys and cell phone in my fashionable, over-sized purse I decided to buy a purse that is not only fashionable but functional as well.

I wanted something that looked designer but also had multiple sections so I could find my keys and cell phone without digging around in my bag. But after three hours and four stores later I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as fashionable and functional.

Besides style and color most fashionable purses are exactly the same inside. They usually have a zipper pocket for lip-gloss and keys and a cell phone pocket, which by the way is too small to fit any regular-sized cell phone in it. The functional purses had the inside I was looking for but the style and colors looked like something by grandma would purchase.

So after much thought I am asking new designers, many of which maybe attending Sacramento State, to take into consideration that women not only want ‘pretty’ things but also ‘pretty’ things that make our lives easier. So if you are going to design fashionable purses take into consideration that we don’t want to spend hours looking for our keys and cell phones.
