Associated Students Inc. has stepped up its marketing efforts with the launching of an official newsletter in an attempt to make itself more visible to the student population.

The newsletter, called “Associated Students Today,” debuted in January with coverage of ASI’s programs, such as the Aquatic Center, Peak Outdoor Adventures and the Children’s Center.

“We would like to see students be more involved with ASI so that they know what is offered,” said Angelique Bernal, newsletter editor.

The focus of the newsletter is to inform students about ASI programs and current issues.

ASI urges students to pick up the newsletter, check it out and stop by the ASI office on the third floor of the University Union. There, students can voice their opinions to ASI board members, look into job opportunities and find out about events offered by the student union.

The newsletter is available at the ASI Business Office, at all ASI-sponsored programs on campus and online at http://www.asi.csus.edu/newsletter.

“We also plan on sending the newsletter to different CSU locations to collaborate and create bonds throughout California,” ASI Marketing Coordinator Angela Hong said.

Subsequent issues will be released at the end of each month.

The idea for the marketing department and newsletter was proposed by former ASI President Jesus Andrade last May. After a semester of planning, the marketing department released the first newsletter at the start of the fall semester.

ASI members contribute to the newsletter’s production by writing, researching, editing and photographing events to be published.

“We hope that in the future, our readership grows,” Hong said.

Future editions of the newsletter will continue to focus on ASI events.
