A variety of tea and soup bowls, vases and jars are some of the pottery that was exhibited at the Sacramento State Ceramics Pottery Guild Sale. The sale took place at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today outside of Kadema Hall.

“(There is) pottery in every shape, color, and form?and it is pretty much all quality work,” said Cory Nelson, junior business administration major and a coordinator of the pottery sale.

Gena Lasko, another coordinator of the pottery sale, said over the past three days, about 300 of nearly 700 art pieces have been sold.

Ceramics students and faculty determined the prices for their pottery pieces. The prices ranged from $5 to $200.

The guild will receive 25 percent of the earnings for each piece sold and the funding for equipment will pay for guest speakers. The artist will receive the remainder of the profit.

Due to the rainy weather, the display was placed under the roof of Kadema Hall, instead of in the walkway in front of the hall, where it normally stood in previous years.

“People don’t see (the display) as clearly,” Lasko said. “Despite the weather, (the sale) was still very successful.”

Lasko expressed admiration for handcrafted items.

“It’s nice to buy handmade stuff?better than buying them in stores,” Lasko said. “You can almost feel the artist’s hands? That’s why (the sale) was successful.”
