Hungry? Eat on campus

David Green

Sacramento State has a lot of different restaurants and coffee shops around campus to grab a bite to eat.

I have tried every eatery from Mother India Express to Burger King and I am here to tell the readers my top five places to eat on campus.

Kung Fu Fat’s

The food is great and they have a pretty good menu to choose from. They receive a lot of business from students and professors to at lunch time. They have orange chicken, chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls and even more kinds of good food. Also, if you’re that student that is running low on cash, but get hungry between classes they have rice and will put some teriyaki sauce or kung pow sauce on it for flavor for $2.

“Yes! When I am broke and I am done with track practice, I usually make my way to the Union for that good ol’ rice at Kung Fu Fat’s because it hits the spot for cheap,” said senior communications major Stephon Paige.

Burger King

I cannot complain with a good burger, especially when it’s the Whopper. I also love the express window where you can pick up the double cheese burger, fries and a drink for $3.50. Fast service also makes me happy when it is hot and fresh, and always made when you order it.

Gordito Burrito

They have a good menu of items like specialty burritos, tacos, and specialty plates like the Chile Colorado which is slow cooked lean beef in a mild-spiced red sauce served with rice and beans. The only problem that they have is that they are expensive.

“I love the food there. Gordito is my favorite place to eat on campus, but it just cost too much. They should give us a break; they know we are college students,” said freshman art major Alivia Baker.

Saigon Bay

Not a lot of people go to the place right by the library, but they should. It is pretty healthy and different. It is a Vietnamese cuisine where they specialize in beef noodle soup. They also have sandwiches like their Pork Roll Sandwich and Special Combo Sandwich.

“I like this place because it is not your everyday type of food and it is healthy,” said Coordinator of Educational Opportunities Program (EOP) Jerry Blake. “It gives a sort of tranquil feeling when eating their food.”

Togo’s

This place is the bomb! Good sandwiches, good soup, chips if it tickles your fancy and salads. It is also healthy eating since we are all students and active in our lives running around the campus to classes. The sandwiches also fill a person’s appetite. Don’t just take my word for it.

“I love Togo’s because it is like a pick me up. It doesn’t slow me down from grease or anything because it doesn’t have any in it,” said freshman bio-chemistry major Alicia Truesdale.

So there you have it, those are my top five picks at Sac State to eat at. They are all good places to eat with a nice selection of food. As a student, everyone should venture out on campus and try an eatery that they never been to. You won’t be disappointed.
