Hornet sophomore Katrina Zheltova fought through an ankle injury to advance to the semis of the singles draw at the Bulldog Classic at the Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno.

Zheltova also reached the semis of the doubles section with fellow Hornet Luba Schifris.

Zheltova, who earned the honor of Big Sky Conference MVP last season, was defeated by Fresno Pacific’s Anna Karavayeva in three sets.

A total of seven Hornets competed in the tournament along with Zheltova and Schifris. Melissa Valenzuela, Joyce Martinez Gutierrez, Aileen Tsan and Anastassia Lyssenko were the other Hornets at the tournament.
