What’s that big, black truck?

Mikhail Chernyavsky

This morning, a black semi truck pulling a 53-foot trailer with big bold white letters that read “ROCK BAND,” pulled on to campus. Sacramento State students, whether observing or passing by, detoured into the lure and glamor of the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle.

As the truck opened up, it transformed into a stage. It’s not too often that students go to school in the morning and have to wonder whether or not Optimus Prime is parked in front of the Hornet Bookstore.

So what the hell is the stage for?

You.

Harmonix is the developer that created the hit video game series Guitar Hero. They were bought out by MTV in September 2006, and together the two are introducing Rock Band in time for the 2007 holiday season.

In the tradition of Guitar Hero, you get to rock out to some of the greatest music of past generations along with some new stuff from our time.

In a slightly smaller tent, students can find 98 Rock’s promotions team member Mark Gilmore, who said that Rock Band is a great game to play with your friends.

“It’s just fun,” he said.

In the game you, have the ability to play drums, lead guitar or bass, as well as sing. It satisfies all your rock ‘n’ roll needs.

If you can’t make it out before they shut down at 5 p.m., a real band will be playing at 5:45 p.m. You can also check them out on Friday.
