Beavers top Hornets volleyball

In an first match-up loss to the Oregon State Beavers, the Sacramento State volleyball team moved to 0-1 in the Sac State Invitational. Going into the fifth game, the Hornets and Beavers were tied at 2 games each. The Hornets lost the 5th game 15-9. The Hornets’ starting lineup consisted of four seniors, including Big Sky Co-Player of the Week Missie Stidham, junior Rose Burke and sophomore Desiree Hoyum. The Beavers started off the match with the ball. The Hornets quickly regained the ball after an attack error by the Beavers. Despite their 8 kills and Stidham’s 2 serving aces, the Hornets lost 30-19. Stidham led the Hornets with her 5 service aces for the match and senior Jennifer Ferguson led with 21 kills. Sac State brought their overall record to 6-3.
Missie also led the Hornets with 28 digs, while freshman Chelsea Goodsell had 20.
The Hornets play tomorrow afternoon against Manhattan at 12:30 p.m. and Cal State Northridge at 7:30 p.m.
