Students have mixed views of Election Day

Elections will be held at Sacramento State today and Wednesday to determine who will be representing Sac State students for the next school year.

Johnny Alsasua, a freshman nursing major, said he voted because he felt that it is important to be involved.

“I just read up on the different candidates and decided to vote,” Alsasua said. “It is also very convenient to vote because of how fast the online voting is.”

“I already spend a lot of time voting in ‘real’ elections, such as the presidential elections, so I just feel that voting here is just a waste of time, and besides, it does not affect me anyway,” said Jane Herrig, a junior environmental studies major.

Stephanie Bailey, a senior chemistry major, felt it is important to vote because the people in ASI make decisions that affect people at Sac State.

“It is so easy to vote because all of the candidates have summaries of the positions that they stand for. So for people that don’t have time to go to the debates, with all of the information online, no one has a reason not to vote,” Bailey said.

The election will coninue until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Students can vote online or at four on-campus locations: Library Quad, west side Union Walkway, Riverfront Center patio or the Student Life & Services in the University Union.
