Motorcycles stolen from campus

Jesse Heneimen locked the wheel of his motorcycle and went to his civil engineering course on March 18, like he does every Tuesday. He did not expect anyone to steal the motorcycle he purchased eight months before.

“I feel violated, like there is nothing you can do to protect your property,” Heneimen said. “It makes me think twice about this campus.”

Returning from class, Heneimen discovered his 1994 red Suzuki RF600 motorcycle was missing from the motorcycle spaces near the Hornet Bookstore.

“I can’t believe nobody noticed it, the bike itself weighs about 400 pounds. The thieves would have had to pick up the motorcycle and lift it into the flat bed of a truck,” Heneimen said.

On March 10, a 1995 purple and silver Suzuki was ripped off from the same location.

“It is possible to break the lock on a motorcycle’s wheel or alter keys to work in the ignition,” Public Information Officer John Hamrick said.

“Now I have to start driving a car again, which is now going to be really weird because on a bike I can just weave through traffic and get to point A to point B in half the time it would take me to drive to school, and I also have to buy a parking permit,” Heneimen said.
