Favorite ice-cream flavors explained in “flavorology”
October 22, 2002
When looking for the perfect love connection, try the ice cream section of the supermarket. A study in flavorology, sponsored by Dreyer’s and Eddy’s Grand Ice Cream, says your favorite ice cream flavor can say a lot about you.
The study’s director, neurologist Dr. Alan R. Hirsch, director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, was surprised to find out that “distinct personalities corresponded with ice cream flavors.”
For example, people who love chocolate ice cream are said to be flirtatious, charming and dramatic. If you’re friends with a chocolate ice cream eater, be careful because things might get ugly. Not only will he/she steal your mate, they’ll also steal the party right along with them. Chocolate ice cream eaters also love to be the center of attention and become very bored with the same routine.
Rocky road eaters are known to be a little unstable and have a hard time finding balance in their lives.
Vanilla, a flavor people consider to be boring, describes a person that is colorful, impulsive, expressive, and a risk taker, whereas tutti-fruitti strawberry eaters are introverted, trustworthy and shy.Who could have guessed?
Ice cream you scream, we all scream for…mint chocolate chip. The person who loves this flavor is someone you should have in your corner at all times. They have very strong morals and always fight for what they believe in.
People who love pistachio-flavored ice cream are good listeners, patient with others and have a great love life. What more could you ask for in a potential mate?
According to the study, if you are a perfectionist, orderly and very careful, your favorite flavor must be butter pecan. There is no way a butter pecan lover has a cluttered desk at work, that is not their style. Listen up, all you chocolate-chip eaters! According to flavorology, you are generous, competitive and ambitious.
Banana creme pie lovers are easy going, well adjusted, honest and empathetic. Honest and empathetic. Come on ladies, this flavor is a winner. It is like someone is reading our minds because this sounds like the ideal man.
The flavorology study also gathered information about compatibility with other flavors of ice cream.
Vanillas are most likely to be compatible with other spontaneous vanillas, while strawberry eaters are a good connection with chocolate chip. The enthusiastic, lively chocolate lover needs the orderly butter pecan to calm them down in relationships. Butter pecan is compatible with butter pecan and chocolate chip. Although rocky road is no match for chocolate chip (to many bumps in the relationship), it blends perfectly with chocolate. Lastly, people who eat banana creme pie are so easy going they are compatible with all of the above in terms of long lasting relationships.
Many couples don’t realize that favorology reflects the kind of people they are involved with.
Latasha Trotter, who has been in a relationship for two years, gave validity to the study when we spoke at a local ice-cream parlor.”My favorite ice cream is butter pecan,” Trotter said. “I think my boyfriend likes chocolate chip or sherbet.”
Sarah Mills had a lot to say about her brand new relationship. “Well me and my boyfriend just got together,” said Mills. “He’s really shy and I think that’s cute.”
When asked what their favorite ice cream flavors were she responded, “Mine is chocolate chip. He likes anything fruity, like lemon or strawberry.”
Ranell Wise decided to give a run down of his relationship. “I don’t really like ice cream with nuts and caramel in it,” he said. “And neither does my girlfriend, so we both eat vanilla ice cream.”
I’m sure that ice cream isn’t the only thing this compatible couple has in common, since they have been together for a year and three months. Why am I not surprised at the results of these couples? So when it comes to dating, forget the Internet, go straight to Baskin Robins to find out what flavor has been missing in your life.
