Brian Samuelson, Institute Council President
September 17, 2002
“The Institute” may sound like the latest law drama on TV, but it?s not. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the Mormons, has small religious schools, known as “the Institute,” next to most major colleges in the US. However, besides offering religious classes, the Institute also provides a library, game room, kitchen, and great parking for its students. Brian Samuelson, a senior at Sac State studying business, says that as Institute Council President, it is his job to “organize activities that the Institute puts on and help to make people feel welcome.” In the mean time, Brian has blessed us with his insights on Sac State, Sacramento, and necrophilia.
Hornet Staff: So, why Sac State?
Brian Samuelson: I’m going to Sac State because it’s close to home and has a good business program.
HS: Where’s your favorite place to study on campus?
Brian: The library because it’s pretty quiet, so it’s easier to focus on schoolwork.
HS: What do you like to listen to when you study?
Brian: I don’t listen to anything because I end up listening to the song and not doing my work.
HS: Where is your favorite place in Sacramento?
Brian: Arco Arena. Go Kings!
HS: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Brian: The power of healing. That way if someone or myself got hurt I could heal them. (This would be especially nice while playing sports).
HS: If you could sleep with any famous person, living or dead, who would he or she be?
Brian: First off there better not be a dead famous person in my bed, ever.
Second, whomever I marry will be famous to me, and she will be the only one I sleep with.
HS: What is your favorite intoxicant?
Brian: NFL Football. Go Dolphins!
HS: What, for you, is the meaning of life in twenty-five words or less?
Brian: The meaning of life is to do the will of Heavenly Father and return to live with Him.
“These are the people in your neighborhood” is an attempt to create a greater sense of community at Sac State through weekly profiles of interesting people on campus, be they student, faculty, or staff.
