16th Annual Distinguished Service Awards

Sac State will be hosting the 16th annual Distinguished Service Awards Banquet ceremony on Thursday, March 14th in the Alumni Center. Awards are given to a group of alumni to recognize their professional achievements, their business leadership, and the community services they provide.
KFBK?s Kitty O?Neal, Sac State alum, will be the emcee that evening and President of the Alumni Association Larry Augusta will give the welcoming address. Nominations are received from all University constituencies throughout the year.
Receiving Distinguished Service Awards this year are: Christopher Cabaldon, city councilman and former mayor of West Sacramento; Dale Carlsen, president and CEO of Sleep Train; Richard Johns, Director of Parks and Recreation in Santa Barbara; Suzanne Kingsbury, presiding judge of the El Dorado County Superior Court; William Lee, president and publisher of The Observer newspaper; Mary Louise Mack, principal of Carson Creek High School; Fred Teichert, Executive Director of the Teichert Foundation; Gil Moore, president of New West Petroleum; Robert Perry-Smith, managing partner of Perry-Smith LLP; and John Shaw, president and CEO of Mercy Foundation.
The Honorary Alumni Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated a close tie to the campus after graduation. Roy Brophy, a developer and advocate for higher education will be this year’s honorary alumni award recipient. Some past recipients have been the late Joseph Serna, Jr. and Angelo Tsakopoulos.
A 6:30 p.m. reception for honorees and guests will be held prior to the 7:30 p.m. dinner. Tickets are $75 per person and $600 for a table. For more information or to make reservations, call the Alumni Center at 278-6295.
