Teatro Milagro will bring the story of Frida Kahlo to Sac State tomorrow

The Teatro Milagro performing group is returning to Sacramento State this Wednesday, February 27. The Teatro Milagro will be performing “Frida: Un retablo”, a story about the life and work of famous artist Frida Kahlo. The performance is scheduled for 12 p.m. in the Hinde Auditorium of the University Union.

Kahlo was one of Mexico?s most legendary artists known for her self portraits. Kahlo painted over 200 self portraits is various settings and situations. Her portraits are unmistakable as they highlight her thick, dark eyebrows and intense gaze.

Teatro Milagrois a professional performance company within The Miracle Theatre Group. The Miracle Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping Hispanic arts alive in the community. Their mission is “to provide quality Hispanic theatre, arts, and cultural experiences for the Northwest’s urban and rural audiences.” The group was founded in 1985 and continues to serve the underprivileged, at-risk youth, and under-served communities and individuals throughout the Northwest.

The performance showcases Teatro Milagro actors Ina Strauss, Omar Vargas, and fifth grader, Maya Linda Malan-Gonzalez. All three actors are touring with the Miracle Theatre throughout the Western States through November.
