Maloof Sports and Entertainment community service coordinator slated to conduct presentation in Sac State class

Community service coordinator Erika Bjork will be attending a Journalism 123 class session (Writing for Public Information) Wednesday at California State University, Sacramento?s Mendocino Hall in room 3002 to describe her role with Maloof Sports and Entertainment to Sac State students interested in pursuing a public relations career.

Bjork will speak to the class from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. to discuss her background in the public relations field and answer questions from students.

The Sacramento resident coordinates community programs for the athletic teams under Maloof Sports and Entertainment at ARCO Arena.

Professional teams overseen by the organization include the Sacramento Kings of the NBA, the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA and the Sacramento Knights of the World Indoor Soccer League.

Before Joe and Gavin Maloof, co-owners of Maloof Sports Entertainment, took the reigns of the local professional sports organizations, Bjork worked at ARCO Arena for the Kings as a sales intern.

In 1995, she worked in ticket sales, customer service and luxury suites at Network Associates Coliseum ? then called the Oakland Coliseum ? for the Oakland Raiders.

She returned to Sacramento as began working in the community service department where she remains today.
