If you are having trouble getting into the Halloween spirit, hop on your broomstick and go visit a local costume shop. They are filled with festive supplies sure to get your creative juices flowing.
Evangeline?s, located at 113 K St. in Old Sacramento, has three floors filled with costumes. If you can imagine it, they probably have it.
Prevues, at 2417 K St., has a costume stylist on duty and offers one-of-a-kind costumes and vintage clothing.
The Halloween Superstore, at 3541 Arden Way., is a one-stop Halloween shop. In one visit, you can get your costume, party decorations and some extra creepy-crawlers to scare your roommate.
Not quite ready to select the perfect costume, but still looking for some Halloween activities? Try the Walk-In Coffin Haunted House at Country Club Plaza on Watt Ave.
This haunted house is put on by the Sacramento Metro firefighters and benefits the Firefighters Pacific Burn Institute, the Sacramento County Association of Reserve Deputy Sheriffs and Best of Broadway.
“The haunted house will make people jump, but reality right now is lots more terrifying than fantasy,” said Greg Bullock, a 20-year-veteran firefighter. The haunted house opens tomorrow night and will run through Halloween night. Admission is $10. For more information, call 974-6280.
Want to walk through a real cemetery? Tomorrow night at 7 p.m., a “Moonlight and Mayhem” tour will be held at the Old City Cemetery. The tour begins at 10th St. and Broadway and costs $5. Reservations are required; call 448-0811 for details.
Visiting a pumpkin patch can provide much needed comfort after midterms. Wandering through rows of pumpkins big and small gives you a chance to reminisce about your childhood days.
Gibson Ranch in Elverta offers everything needed for a wonderful pumpkin patch visit: pumpkins of all sizes, hayrides, train rides and furry little farm animals. Parking is $4. The patch is open weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Old Sacramento?s annual celebration of October includes a scarecrow contest, pumpkin patch, crafts, fortunetellers and spooky excursions on haunted trains. Festivities are held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays until Halloween.
Since Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year, there are parties planned for the weekends before and after the holiday.
This Saturday night, 100.5 FM “The Zone” is hosting the Annual Exotic Zone Ball at Cal Expo. Tickets are $20 in advance and $28 the day of the event. There will be a chance to win $5,000 in the costume contest, which includes a new lingerie category. This year “The Zone” is expecting around 10,000 people at this scandalous, sexy and wildly fun event, so get your tickets early and save $8.
Halloween doesn?t have to end on Nov. 1. Polly Esther?s on Arden Way will be hosting a Halloween Bash the Saturday after Halloween, Nov. 3. The bash includes a $500 prize for the Costume Contest winner.
