Jesse Powell erupts

Even the heartless will appreciate this emotion-filled album from vocal innovator Jesse Powell. This third release, titled “JP,” is a roller coaster of passion, sensitivity and love.
With a unique style and four-octave vocal range, Powell manages to enhance a different mood on each track. In creating this album, he wanted to make sure that his sound was everything but typical.
Releasing an album at a time when many male artists are hungry for attention, Powell?s strive was to maintain his true identity, which he has successfully done. The vocal delivery is strong and confident with diverse musical programming.
In the first single release, “If I,” Powell puts himself in a hurtful scenario. He contemplates the idea of losing his loved one and realizes that he wouldn?t know what to do without her. Throughout the song he sings in a comfortable range, and then he unexpectedly and successfully reaches the high notes near the end.
The track “I?m Leaving” features his two sisters, Trina and Tamara. The sisters are standing up for their big brother throughout the song, which deals with his cheating girlfriend. The sisters sing, “Every time that you talk, you lie?he won?t be a fool for you.”
“Something In the Past” is a song that can put a person in an imaginary club, with tables for two, candles, a live band and a lot of shy mingling. The mood is intimate yet strong, as the piano, guitar and drums provide a soulful realization.
“JP” is an emotional album with vocals that go beyond the usual expectations of today?s male artists. Sensitive or not, at least one of the tracks will make you feel something.
