‘Tree-hugger’ Woody Harrelson to Visit Sac State
April 23, 2001
Environmental activist and actor Woody Harrelson will visit Sac State at noon on Friday, May 4 as part of his “Simple Organic Living Tour.” Harrelson will talk about deforestation, organic food, and striking a balance between economic and ecological growth. The free event will be outside the University Union, at the Joe Serna, Jr. Plaza.
The actor, who starred in the sitcom “Cheers” throughout its run, and in films such as “Natural Born Killers,” “The People vs. Larry Flynt” and “EdTV,” is an avid environmentalist and self-proclaimed “tree-hugger.”
Harrelson and several others are bicycling over 1,500 miles to different locations on the tour, and are being followed by an environmentally friendly bus which runs on fuel made from hemp and vegetable oils and is equipped with an organic kitchen and solar-powered appliances.
