Everything about Dryspell’s new CD equals fun
April 26, 2001
To sum up Dryspell?s newest CD, Kitty Porn, in one word, it would have to be fun.
Even the band?s pictures on the CD cover seem fun. Heck even their website is fun with a cool flash 4 plug in elevator image thing.
But to be in more depth than just “fun” this band has an amazing amount of talent that?s rarely heard of when you consider the fact that they?re not just another copycat band, hand-picked by the record producers. They could be considered trendy punk rock, but you?d be walking on a thin line with that one. The tunes could be compared to a Blink 182 style, but the lyrical sound is so original that they can?t even be compared to another band.
But with every good band, there was a beginning.
The band joined forces in 1997 in the wonderful city of San Francisco. The drummer, Gregg Anderson; bassist, Al Higgins; and guitarist/vocalist, John Morris are originally from Tempe, Arizona, but decided they needed a change and moved to sunny California.
While playing in California they found themselves touring with some big-name bands like Smash Mouth, The Fly?s, and Jimmy Eat World, anything but their sound-alike counterparts.
When their debut CD, Kitty Porn, hit store shelves on April 3, it received nothing but rave reviews.
“Complex rhythms, hard edge riffs, catchy vocal melodies and an exuberant stage presence place Dryspell on the cutting edge of modern music,” as quoted by NYcitybands.com.
So if you?re into punk rock, or just like to think you are, be sure to head to the stores today and pick up some Kitty Porn.
