“My People,” a magazine provided by Universal Records, gives an adequate approach to announcing upcoming hip hop records while giving remarkable insight into theartists.

The magazine includes issues about Boyz II Men, Monifah, SPM, Lil Wayne and BG, all successful artists with new records soon to be released.

The article about SPM, a rap artist from Texas, clearly shows how “My People” covers the artist, their music and the announcement of their next album. The publication does exhibit great writing.

The writer, Charlie Braxton, conveyed how SPM got his name through a quote from the artist.

“I was the only Mexican in South Park,” said SPM. “So after a while people started calling me the South Park Mexican and the name just stuck? it was all love.”

Also, the description of the songs are helpful, drawing audiences to the sounds that they would appreciate.

“Some outstanding tracks include the danceable, ?Short Skirt,? ?Wiggy Wiggy,? a jam that showcases SPM?s keen sense of humor and the totally off-the-meter jam,?Oooh Wee,?” wrote Braxton.

The featured article about Boyz II Men claims the group is the original “boy band.” Written by Elsa Lathan, the article was also well written, informative of the group and their music.

Again, the choice of words when describing the songs are well-worded and took light of the artists.

“The first single, ?Pass You by,? listeners can feel the lyrics that Shawn [Stockman] wrote, but it is both his and Wanya [Morris] vocal delivery that propel the song to the level it reaches,” Lathan wrote.

A well written magazine, both for its informative purposes and depiction of artists, “My People” is available at any Dimple Records store near you.
