Care to dance? The California Musical Theatre is hosting an open invitation to singers, actors and dancers for this season’s Music Circus. Productions include:
* “The Music Man” (July 9-15)
* “Into the Woods” (July 16-22)
* “Mame” (July 23-29)
* “Annie” (July 30-Aug. 5)
* “My Fair Lady” (Aug. 6-12)
* “Fiddler on the Roof” (Aug. 13-19)
* “Show Boat” (Aug. 20-26)
Casting opportunities are by appointment only and are available for all productions. Appointments for singers and actors, aged 18 and up, can be made by calling the audition hotline at (916) 448-1239 Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The deadline is this Thursday, March 8.
Auditions for singers and actors will begin at 6 p.m. and be held Tuesday through Thursday, March 20-22. Singers should be prepared to sing a ballad and uptempo song. Although an accompanist will be provided, auditionees should bring sheet music in their own key. Actors may substitute a two-minute monologue in place of a singing audition.
Dance auditions will be held Saturday, March 24, at The Ballroom of Sacramento, 6009 Folsom Blvd., at 10 a.m. sharp. Those auditioning are encouraged to wear appropriate dance or workout attire and be prepared to learn a dance combination. Some dancers may be asked to sing, so all auditionees are advised to bring sheet music in their own key.
Dancers will also have the opportunity to be considered for participation in a series of dance classes this summer with visiting guest instructors. For more information about the dance classes, contact Jamie at (916) 446-5880, ext. 147.
