Associated Student Inc?s board members will discuss student appointments to the director of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, chair of Lobby Corps and chair of Public Relations at today’s board meeting.

ASI President Jason Bryant will be making the appointment of Joseph Devlin as Director of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies.

“We had a few applicants for this position,” Bryant said. “He communicated his strengths the best and was a well rounded candidate for the position.”

This position has been vacant since the beginning of this semester. Devlin will take on many duties if approved by the board.

“He will represent students within the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, which I believe is the second or third largest on campus,” Bryant said

Executive Vice President Artemio Pimentel will be making the appointment of Shara Perkins as the chair of Lobby Corps. This team is responsible for keeping the student body informed of what is going on around the Capital. This position became available when Laura McNamara stepped down. Perkins was the vice chair at the time, so Pimentel felt that she should be appointed to chair.

“Shara will be involved with ASI elections,” Pimentel said. “She will also help to bring the state legislature information to students on campus.”

Pimentel will also be appointing Ciara Jones as Chair of Public Relations. This work team is responsible for a yearly campaign to promote ASI?s services to the students. Pimentel feels that Jones will do her job well if approved by the board.”She is currently the president of The American Marketing Association,” Pimentel said. “She would be a big asset to ASI.”

One job that Pimentel would like Jones to take on if approved is dealing with organizations on campus.

“I want ASI to become more active with organizations on campus,” Pimentel said. “We need to make sure students are aware of what?s going on around campus.”

The meeting will be held in the Foothill Suite of the University Union at 3 p.m. The meeting is open to the public for comments on items within the board?s jurisdiction.
