Rockin with a country twist

Christine Brownell

Local band, “Forever Goldrush” rocked the Hinde Auditorium of the University Union Wednesday with country music inspired rock n? roll.

The auditorium was relatively empty, as many of the afternoon concerts on campus tend to be. However, the lack of bodies is no reflection of the ability and talent of this band.

Forever Goldrush takes a new spin on country, combining a honky-tonk sound with a rock n? roll beat. Think “Credence Clearwater” meets The “Counting Crows.”

The two-year-old band consists of four Amador County natives, including Damon Wycoff (singer, songwriter, guitarist), Josh Lacey (guitarist), Mason De Musey (bassist), and Nate Gonzales (drummer).

“I?m not used to playing at noon,” Wycoff said jokingly at the beginning of his performance. “Or without any alcohol here.”

“Forever Goldrush” will be playing again at the midtown bar The Distillery, on Friday, Nov. 10.

“Come out and support local music,” Wycoff told the crowd while between songs.
