There’s no place like home. The Sac State women’s volleyball team knows this all to well as they ended their five-match home stand with a dominant win over the Matadors of Cal State Northridge Thursday evening in Hornet Gym.

At no point during the three-game match up did the Hornets let the Matadors take the lead. The Hornets closed out the Matadors (15-4, 15-6, 15-9,) and improved their record for the season to 11-8.

Sophomore Jayme Wright and junior Tasman Dwyer led the Hornets with 16 kills while freshman setter Lisa Beauchene finished with a match-high 19 digs and 45 assists.

In game one the Hornets jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back as Wright recorded seven kills and senior captain Sarah Chlebana added six of her own, while Northridge did not record one block the entire game.

In the second game, the Hornets took the lead 8-1 and never let the Matadors within five points.

In the third game, Sac State lead again for the last time as they cruised the rest of the way to victory.

Sac State, which does not play again at home until Oct.19, closes the week at Idaho State on Saturday, Oct.7.
