“A Servant to Two Masters” includes audience participation
October 23, 2000
Sacramento State is inviting the audience to participate in their lively production of Carlo Goldini?s, “A Servant to Two Masters.”
The production opens on Thursday, Oct. 26 and will run Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. The show continues through Sunday, Nov. 5.
No auditions are needed for the participation, just show up the night of a performance and be prepared to be pulled into the excitement by one of the characters. Not everyone from the audience will be able to participate, but the play will surely offer enough excitement and comedy for those who do not.
“There are short moments when characters ask the audience to participate. Whether it is to air out some laundry or something else,” Robert Smart, director of the production said. The story line of the play starts with a “clownish” type fellow who is given the opportunity to be the servant for one master. He is then later given a second opportunity to be the servant of another master all the while continuing with the first. Disguises, misunderstandings and mistaken identities are thrown into the mix to give the audience a wonderfully comical show.
“It?s the traditional farce that establishes physical comedy. It could be compared to the earlier works of Jim Carry,” Smart said.
Tickets are available to the public for $10 and $7 for students, seniors and alumni.
Tickets will be sold through the CSUS Ticket Office or online at www.tickets.com. For further ticket information, call the CSUS Ticket Office at (916) 278-4323.
