Sac State gets ready for annual golf tournamentNoah Dye

Signups are currently being taken for the third annual CSUS Circle Golf Tournament, to be held Oct. 6 at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.

The proceeds for this fundraiser will benefit the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies at Sacramento State.

The deadline to register in Friday, Sept. 29. The price for registration is $95 and includes all day golf, breakfast, lunch, and a golf cart. This year’s co-chairs for the tournament are Sacramento County Sheriff Lou Blanas and Sacramento City Manager Bob Thomas, both Sac State alumni.

Over 100 golfers are expected to take part in the tournament. Organizers of this year’s event are hoping to go over the $13,000 mark that last year’s event established. In addition to the colleges mentioned, the proceeds will also go towards upgrading computer labs and the purchase of software and scientific equipment.

The sponsorship for the event is still available at different levels, according to Laurie Hall, a news writer in Public Affairs. The levels of sponsorship range from $95 to $5,000.

“The more that you donate, the more recognition you will receive.” Hall said.

Prizes will be given for a hole-in-one, the longest drive, and the closest to the pin.
