Football:
The Hornets gear up for what could be their toughest match-up of the season, as they host Portland St. at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Hornet Stadium. The Vikings are ranked #9 in division 1 AA, coming off a 45-20 thrashing of Hawaii, while the Hornets moved up to #25 after defeating Cal Poly. Hornet running back Charles Roberts, who has struggled against the Vikings defense in the past, will try to continue his good start to the season, as he has rushed for 459 yards in the first two games. Quarterback Ricky Ray may not play due to a strained abdomen, so sophomore Garrett White may get the start for Sac State. Junior Santi Hall, a transfer from UCLA, is expected to make his first appearance for the Hornets.
Volleyball:
Off to a 5-4 start, the women's volleyball team will begin Big Sky Conference competition tonight, as they host Northern Arizona at 7 p.m. at Hornet Gym. Following tonight's game, they will travel to Weber St., who they will play at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Men's Soccer:
The Hornets host Vanguard today at 4 p.m. at Hornet Field. Sac State, currently 2-2-1, will also have a home match on Sunday, as Arizona State will play on campus at 1 p.m.
Women's Soccer:
The Hornets, 4-0-2, will travel to Northern Arizona, to play at 7 p.m. tonight. The undefeated start is the best in school history and if the Hornets defeat Northern Arizona, they will try to keep the streak alive at Arizona State on Sunday night.
Cross Country:
The team will compete at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday. Melissa Madeson and Erik Mancarini were named Big Sky runners of the week for their efforts in last week's San Francisco Invitational, which was won by both the men and the women of Sac State.
