Remember VH1's "Bands on the Run" reality TV show? Well, the winners of the show, Flickerstick, are set to hit the Boardwalk in Orangevale on Saturday, Nov. 9. Look for an interview with the band next week in "Soundcheck."
Legendary record producer Tom Dowd died this week of respiratory failure at the age of 77. He had been in the business for over 50 years, producing acts like Aretha Franklin and Eric Clapton. Dowd was considered a pioneer in the industry, and in 1957 he was the first person to introduce an 8-track recording system in a studio setting.
Dashboard Confessional's "MTV Unplugged 2.0" album and DVD are set for release on Dec. 17. The album will feature the band's "MTV Unplugged" performance, while the DVD will feature two songs that didn't make it to TV during the taping of the concert.
Looking for a hip new venue? Well, as of this month San Francisco's abandoned prison Alcatraz will be hosting concerts regularly. The Wallflowers are one of several bands who have already played the strange new concert venue. Look for The Spice Girls to play there soon in solitary confinement, where no one can see or hear them!
