The Sacramento Police Department responded to a shooting at the University and 65th Street light rail station around 3 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024. The suspects in the shooting allegedly carjacked someone at gunpoint nearby on Folsom Blvd, the car was found abandoned on campus in parking lot 2.

Sac State UNiQUE and the Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity hosted the annual El Grito Mexican Independence Day pre-celebration Thursday, Sep. 14, 2023. 

Students from all backgrounds were invited to the University Ballroom to embrace Mexican culture through song and dance. 

Attendees said events like these help students embrace and celebrate their Mexican heritage. Viva Mexico!

McFarland's uses her experience as a public speaker, multi-media reporter and podcast DJ on "916 to Life," to show her passion and enthusiasm for journalism as an art form.

Cristian Gonzalez is the multimedia editor for The State Hornet. He is a political science and journalism major and has collected AAs in hospitality management, math, and physical sciences on his way to Sac State.
