Sacramento State police are currently investigating an attempted robbery by the Hornet Tunnel that happened Tuesday night.

A male student student was approached by the suspect on College Town Drive just north of the Hornet Tunnel.

Police said the victim was engaged in a conversation with the alleged robber when he was told to hand over his backpack and refused. The victim told campus police that when he refused to hand over the backpack the suspect said he was holding a firearm.

The suspect told the victim he had a firearm. Police said that’s when the student ran from the scene.

He was not pursued by the robber. The suspect did not pull out the firearm and the victim never saw it, according to police.

The victim said the suspect was a white or Hispanic male, around 5 foot 5 inches tall, thin and was wearing a black North Face brand jacket and dark blue jeans.

Sac State campus police said they urge anyone with information pertaining to the crime to contact the dispatch center and callers can remain anonymous.
